Who We Are
The Fire Place Initiative is a non-profit organization based in Bellport, NY. Our mission is to connect people with the environment in meaningful and lasting ways. We believe that facilitating access to the natural beauty around us will heighten appreciation of our natural resources and encourage conservation. Our team consists of passionate individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in the Bellport Brookhaven area. We organize two community-building fundraising events: The Blue Water Vagabond Surf Festival and Osprey Open, a fun tennis competition. These activities highlight the strong community while raising money to support community engagement activities.
The organization was founded in 2022 by Andy Gordon and Thaddeus O'Neil, who now serve as President and Vice-President of our board. Annemarie Gordon acts as Treasurer, and Tara Shannon and Andrew Clarke round out the board. This continues to be a volunteer run organization with many opportunities to pitch in.
